Many tile products require limited maintenance. Most glazed or un-glazed tile, under normal situations, can be cleaned using clear water and tile cleaner. ALWAYS follow up with a clear water rinse. Regular maintenance is recommended to avoid build-up of residues, dirt, grease, soap, detergents and other external contaminants. We do not recommend “acid cleaning” most tile products. For all floor cleaning operations, follow these basic procedures.

  • Sweep or vacuum entire surface.

  • Mix water with Tile and Grout Cleaner as per the manufacturer’s instructions and apply to surface.

  • Allow solution to sit for 3-5 minutes.

  • Agitate well with sponge or mop.

  • Mop up to remove excess solution.

  • Rinse mop and change cleaning solution at lease every 500 Sq Ft or more.

  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water, replacing unclear water with clean water as often as needed. The more dirt left in the rinse water, the more dirt will be left to dry into the grout.

  • Dry mop floor to pick-up moisture or use a wet-vac

  • Wipe the floor dry

Course or abrasive surfaces need more frequent maintenance.

  • Agitation should be vigorous and water must be changed frequently.

  • Proper cleaning of these types of tile is necessary to maintain slip-resistance.

  • The presence of grease or water may create slippery conditions.

  • Be careful to avoid the introduction of oil and grease from dirty mops or cloths.

*Wax cleaners, oil based detergents, and sealants may decrease the slip-resistance of ceramic tiles. Sealants may be used on grout. Consult the manufacturer of the cleaner, detergent, or sealant for more information about the impact of their cleaning solutions on your tile product.

Glass Tile

For routine cleaning, use any non-abrasive cleaning compound recommended for either glass or tile.

Metal – Stainless Steel “capped” tiles

Use a liquid non-abrasive household cleaner.

  • Do not use scouring pads, steel wool, sandpaper or other abrasive products.
Avoid cleaners containing ammonia, bleach or abrasives.
To ensure compatibility, always test new cleaners in an inconspicuous area.
